What wineries do we visit?
Our itinerary and winery stops may change due to unforeseen circumstances, such as group sizes, special events, and cellar-door closures. We work closely with several different estates, guests will get to enjoy three tastings from a variety of stops such as Irongate Estate, Savannah Estate, Constable, Tempus Two / Roche, Mount View, Tintilla Estate, Gun Dog, Mistletoe, and many more cellar-door options.
Is lunch provided on this tour?
Lunch is provided on this tour. We have designed this itinerary so guests can live like a local and explore the town of Hunter Valley Village at their own leisure. There is plenty of time for guests to purchase lunch at one of the many restaurants, pubs, or cafes, at their own expense. This does not include entry into the Hunter Valley Gardens.
What is a suitable age for this tour?
As the minimum drinking age is 18 years old, photo ID will be required. Not suitable for infants or children 17 years old and under, as it doesn’t include activities for children.
How much luggage can I bring on tour?
We ask that guests travelling on day trips bring small day packs and hand luggage only as we have limited storage onboard our vehicles. Suitcases and large backpacks must be put in storage at your hotel or bus station lockers prior to boarding our vehicles.
How fit do I need to be to join this tour?
A low level of fitness is required to participate in this itinerary. It’s the perfect day trip to sit back, relax and reconnect with family and friends. Unfortunately, our buses are not wheelchair accessible, however service animals are allowed. Please advise at the time of booking.
Do we visit the Hunter Valley Gardens?
The Hunter Valley Gardens is located in the heart of Hunter Valley wine country, however our itinerary does not feature or include entry into the gardens. We do stop nearby at Hunter Valley Village for lunch, but we do not include a visit to the stunning gardens.
What happens if it rains, will the tour proceed?
In the event of rain or inclement weather, our Hunter Valley Wine Tours will still go ahead as there is nothing better than snuggling up to a glass of red wine on a rainy day. Where possible our guests will have the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors and scenic views, alternative inside tastings will be arranged in poor weather. Should a cancellation occur you will be contacted by the provider.
Responsible consumption of alcohol?
Due to the nature of this tour and the safety of all guests, the tour operator reserves the right to refuse service to passengers who are intoxicated or show signs of intoxication. If, as a result, you are asked to leave the tour you will not be entitled to a refund. Please be advised it’s illegal to consume alcohol in a moving commercial passenger vehicle.
How many people are on this tour?
We operate this tour with a maximum of 14 passengers, our vehicle is a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van. This vehicle makes for a safe & comfortable journey (air-conditioned), with large passenger windows for unobstructed views.
Is Hunter Valley a family-friendly destination?
Please do note that the drinking age is 18+ years old, and therefore, this tour is not suitable for children 17 years and under.
When is the time to visit Hunter Valley for a wine tour?
Due to the mild weather conditions, the recommended times to visit Hunter Valley for a wine tour are autumn (March to May) and spring (September to November). Autumn offers the harvest season, adding excitement to the experience, while spring allows visitors to witness the vineyards in bloom.
What wine can you taste in Hunter Valley?
Hunter Valley is known for its high-quality Semillon and Shiraz wines and other varietals such as Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Verdelho. Wineries in the region offer a wide selection of wines for tasting, showcasing the diversity of the area’s wine production.
Is Hunter Valley wheelchair accessible?
Most wineries can accommodate guests with mobility challenges, but it is recommended to inquire in advance about specific accessibility needs. However, our buses are not equipped with wheelchair ramps, allocated floor space, adjustable restraint systems, or safe storage for mobility aids, prams, or strollers. If you have a collapsible travel wheelchair and can board our vehicles unassisted, please call to check wheelchair measurements and itinerary inclusions.
Are reservations recommended for wine tours?
It is advisable to book in advance, especially during peak seasons or for popular tours, to secure your spot and aid in organizing your itinerary.
Why should I visit Hunter Valley for wine tours?

How long does the Hunter Valley day tour take from Sydney?
Our day tour lasts about 10 to 12 hours, including round-trip transport (approximately 2.5 hours each way).
Can I buy wine during the tour?
Absolutely! You can purchase bottles at the cellar doors most wineries offer discounts or specials for tour guests.
Do I need to print my ticket?
We work on a paperless boarding system so it’s not required to print your ticket as we love to save paper. Please keep a copy of your confirmation email/ticket on your phone to make sure you have all the correct details and need to check your pickup location, time, or call us.
How will I know which bus/driver I will have?
We may be running multiple buses so our drivers will find somewhere to park, get off and approach you to check if you’re on their manifest. Please listen out if they’re announcing the name of the tour or your name. Also keep your mobile phone handy as they will attempt to also call you from there. Your driver may have delays from earlier pickups. For privacy reasons, we do not provide the phone number of the tour guide. We can provide you with the licence plate number should you wish to look out for this (like you would looking for your Uber!) Do I need to get travel insurance?
It is highly recommended that all passengers have personal travel insurance. Autopia Tours is not authorised to provide information on the type of plan or policy options available. This can be provided by an accredited local travel agent or from your preferred insurance company.
