We’ll see all kinds of natural wonders such as Wave Rock, Cape Le Grand National Park, the Bunda Cliffs and the Flinders Ranges. Wildlife abounds out here too with opportunities to see kangaroos, wombats, emus, whales, sea lions, dolphins and sharks! Plus, you’ll get to spend your evenings camped under the stars watching the magnificent natural sky shows each night.

9 Day Perth to Adelaide Tours Overland 

Grab yourself some iconic photos at the wondrous Wave Rock, a strangely wave shaped rock formation in the Western Australian outback. Camp in Fitzgerald National Park, an area famous for its large amount of native flora, around 1/5 of which is found only in the park itself! Hike the beautiful Stirling Ranges, a place whose indigenous name means ‘mist rolling around the mountains’. This is the only place in Western Australia that ever receives snow, though it is rare. Enjoy views over the rugged terrain here and try to spot some wildflowers during the season! Marvel at the pristine beauty of Cape Le Grand National Park. You’ll find endless white sand beaches with the clearest blue water imaginable. Even the kangaroos come down to enjoy these beaches! Another great photo opportunity awaits you at the top of Frenchman’s peak, where you can overlook the islands of the Recherche.

Enjoy one of Australia’s most iconic road trips, the Nullarbor crossing. Gaze out into the seemingly endless desert from the comfort of your minibus. Be sure to watch for wildlife along the way. A great photo opportunity awaits at the Bunda Cliffs, where Australia meets the Southern Ocean in dramatic cliff faces. Stay on a working farm at Coodlie Park and enjoy 2 nights with a difference in a swag hut. This eco-friendly campsite is set among the native bush. Keep an eye out for wildlife here and enjoy the million-star view of an evening. Interact with wildlife like nowhere else. Take up the sea lion and dolphin snorkel at Baird Bay, some of the most interactive and playful creatures, making for an experience you will never forget! Or test out your nerves by giving the shark cage diving a go in Port Lincoln! Stay in some unique sites in the outback and experience the wondrous night sky like never before. On Mikkira Station you can try spotting some koalas and we’ll even stay at an old railway station across the Nullarbor.

Day 1 - Wave Rock and Fitzgerald River National Park

We leave the city early and head into the outback with our first stop in the quirky town of York. Wander through the old streets as you enjoy a coffee. Then it’s on to one of Western Australia’s most iconic locations, Wave Rock; a 15m high natural formation shaped liked a huge wave. Our camp for the night is in the National Heritage Listed Fitzgerald National Park, famous for its large variety of native flora, some of which only occur within the park! Day 2 - Fitzgerald National Park to Cape Le Grand National Park

 Start the day with breath taking views out over the ranges and Doubtful Islands after a hike up Mt Barren. We then make our way towards the breath-taking Cape Le Grand National Park, with a stop in Esperance along the way for supplies. Enjoy some of the most stunning coastal scenery imaginable around Cape Le Grand and Esperance with water so blue and sand so white you would think it is a painting. We’ll arrive at our campsite in Lucky Bay early enough for you to enjoy some free time. Relax on the beach, enjoy another walk, search for Lucky Bay’s famous beach kangaroos or hang out with your new friends. Around 2.5 hours travel time. (B,L,D) Showers available.


Day 3 - Cape Le Grand and Nullarbor

 A last chance to spot those friendly Lucky Bay kangaroos and then it’s on to Frenchman’s Peak for a hike that will reward you with breathtaking views over the Recherche Archipelago and surrounding waters! Then get set for one of Australia’s most epic road trips, the Nullarbor, and Australia’s longest, flattest stretch of straight road! Tonight, we camp along the Nullarbor and play witness to the milky way and shooting stars. Around 5 hours travelled. (B,L,D) Showers not available.


Day 4 - Nullarbor and Koonalda Homestead

 A day to get to know your fellow travellers as we continue to cross this vast arid region. Take in the beauty of the countryside with camera handy in case we spot some of the country’s unique wildlife! We’ll make a stop in Eucla to view the old telegraph station, now mostly buried by the sand dunes but making for some excellent photo opportunities. We’ll cross into South Australia today and tonight’s accommodation is Koonalda Homestead, an old railway station! Around 6 hours travelled. (B,L,D) Showers not available.


Day 5 - Great Australian Bight 

 Marvel at the dramatic beauty of the Bunda Coastal Cliffs, where you can overlook the Southern Ocean. We’ll also make a stop for that all-important camel/wombat/kangaroo road sign! We cross the world’s longest fence today, the Dingo Fence, originally built as a rabbit fence. It is now used to protect sheep in southern Australia from dingoes found in the north. After reaching the end of the Nullarbor we stop for some cultural enlightenment at the Ceduna Arts and Cultural Centre, where you can learn about indigenous artworks. Tonight’s accommodation is in some unique swag huts at Coodlie Park. Around 8 hours travelled. (B,L,D) Showers available.


Day 6 - Cape Le Grand National Park

Today provides you the opportunity to get up close and personal with some of Australia’s most playful creatures, sea lions and dolphins! Join Baird Bay Ecotours on a 3 hour journey you’ll never forget by joining these animals in their natural playground. You’ll be amazed at how curious and interactive they are! This is an optional activity and we recommend booking before you leave Perth to avoid disappointment. Cost is $160 per person. Those who choose not to join in will have the morning to enjoy at their leisure. Afterwards, we’ll enjoy a picnic lunch as a group and then head over to check out the strange pink granite rock formations known as Murphy’s Haystacks and then the Talia Caves. Those of you with a sense of adventure can give sandboarding a go at Lake Newland’s large sand dunes. We’ll spend another night at Coodlie Park around a campfire. Around 3 hours travel time. Day 7 - Outback Adventure

Enjoy more of the wonderful coastal scenery as we make our way towards Port Lincoln. We’ll stop in at Lock’s Well for a walk along the beach and the opportunity to see the cliffs from sea level. Lunch will be in Port Lincoln as a group and then enjoy some free time to explore the town of Port Lincoln, a site which nearly became South Australia’s capital! Accommodation for the night is a swag on Mikkira Station, a working sheep station covered in manna gums; a favourite food for the koala! Around 4 hours travelled. (B,L,D) Showers available.


Day 8 - Port Lincoln to Mt Remarkable

Today is up to you. Those with a keen sense of adventure can choose to join one of the all-day shark cage dives, where you’ll come face to face with some of the most feared animals in the world! Join Calypso Star Charters or Adventure Bay Charters for an unforgettable encounter. This is an optional activity which we recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment. Cost starts from $395. If this doesn’t sound like you, join your guide for a tour of the region instead. Learn about the regions whaling history with a visit to Whaler’s Way Conservation Park, a site which is also fantastic for scenic photos and spotting some more native wildlife! We’ll also visit Glen Forest Wildlife Park where you can hand feed some of your favourite Aussie animals. Once the group is back together, we make our way towards camp at Mt Gibbon for the night. Day 9 - Way to Adelaide

Your final chance to swap contacts with your new-found friends as we make the final stretch into Adelaide. We’ll pass through some of South Australia’s older settlements along the way and you can step back into the time of the pioneers with an interpretive tour at Wadlata Culture Centre. Enjoy some stunning views of the southern Flinders Ranges National Park also before arriving into our final destination of Adelaide. Although there are no formal activities booked for the evening in Adelaide, groups usually organise a get together for a final meal and drinks together (at your own expense). Swim with Sea Lions and Dolphins! $160 per person. 

Swim with sea lions and dolphins at the same time on this amazing 3-hour cruise with Bair Bay Ecotours. This once in a lifetime opportunity is truly not to be missed. Sea lions are known as the puppies of the sea, being extremely playful and inquisitive by nature. You may even get a kiss from one! The Dolphins won’t disappoint either! Calypso Star Charters – $395 for viewing from the boat. Additional $100 to get into the cage. 

An Advanced Eco Certified business who use a sustainable natural fish berley to attract the sharks. This is a full day tour, from 6.30am and can return anywhere between 6 and 9pm. Travel time via boat to the dive site takes around 2.5 hours. Breakfast, lunch, morning and afternoon tea, all equipment, tea/coffee and water all provided. Adventure Bay Charters – $395 for viewing from the boat. Additional $125 for underwater viewing (either cage or sub tank). 

This company prefers to use rock music instead of berley, pumping AC/DC songs to attract the sharks. They also have a dry underwater viewing area known as the sub tank for those wanting to see the sharks in their natural habitat but stay dry! This is a full day tour, beginning around 6.30am and returning between 6-7pm. Photos, light breakfast, lunch, morning and afternoon tea and all equipment provided.   • Please bring your own sleeping bag on Perth to Adelaide Tours, as they are not available for purchase or hire.
  • This tour and vehicle is not suitable for children or infants. Minimum age is 18 years old.
  • A moderate level of fitness is required to complete the walks, you will need to be prepared for walk between 3-9 km on some days.
  • This tour covers long distances and there is often little or no phone signal, a satellite phone is carried your guide encase of emergencies.
  • We recommend pre-booking any optional activities in advance to avoid disappointment.
  • We also recommend all guests have travel insurance organised prior to departure.


  • Accommodation each night is basic, with most nights camping in an Aussie swag or dome tents. Facilities can be quite basic most nights with showers not available every evening. You may not be able to charge devices most evenings.
  • Please have Adelaide accommodation arranged prior to departure, as accommodation there can get busy and there will be limited opportunity to book along the way.

Food & Dietary Requirements

  • Your guide will prepare most of the meals whilst on tour, but you will have the opportunity to assist with daily activities such as setting up camp, helping prepare meals and clearing dishes. 
  • Passengers with special meal requirements or food allergies MUST ensure they notify their travel agents or us at the time of booking.
  • Food is purchased prior to the commencement of this tour and special requirements cannot be catered for after departing.

Reconfirming Your Booking

  • Please reconfirm at least 48-hours prior to departure and notify us of any dietary requirements, medical conditions.
  • This will give you the opportunity to reconfirm your pickup location and departure time too.
  • Providing a travelling contact phone number prior to departure, makes it easier for us to find you during morning pickups

Arriving into Adelaide

  • Please avoid arranging flights out of Adelaide until the following day after the tour finishes, in case of any delays due to traffic.
  • Guests can’t be dropped off at Adelaide airport.
